Kirstenbosch Scoops Gold at Chelsea

I was delighted to hear that Kirstenbosch has scooped a gold medal in this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. This was their 30th gold medal in all the years they’ve been exhibiting at Chelsea.

Little Travellers Spread Hope Around the World

I have a visitor in my office at Portfolio, Newlands, this morning. She is petite, has a funky ‘fro and is wearing a pretty shiny pink dress with matching shoes and gloves. She’s far cooler and better dressed than I can ever hope to be. And her job is to spread hope, faith, love and strength for those in this country living with HIV/AIDS.

On 5 February 1939, British air racer Alex Henshaw (27 years of age at the time) flew a return trip from Cape Town to London on 4 days, 10 hours and 16 minutes in a single-engined aircraft, setting a world record that would last for an amazing 70 years.
