West Coast Flowers Getting Their Bloom On

Posted Thu, 29 Jul 2010 (22 months ago)

Reports heard on local radio say that the West Coast wild flowers are already making their annual appearance!

The West Coast of South Africa, all the way up to Namaqualand in the Northern Cape, transforms each spring into a floral wonderland with daisies, lilies and other wild flowers carpeting the usually somewhat barren grasslands of that region. And news this past week is that some early blooms are already on display in and around the Clanwilliam area.

If you haven’t experienced the West Coast (and inland) daisy extravaganza, make 2010 the year to plan a day trip or West Coast weekend away to enjoy this natural phenomenon that attracts visitors from around the world to South Africa each year.

Portfolio Collection offers individually assessed luxury West Coast guest houses and comfortable B&Bs throughout the region.

Apart from the flowers, you could very well be fortunate enough to see whales – their seasonal visit to our coastlines coincides with late winter / early spring. You can enjoy boat rides or kayaking for a closer encounter with these giants of the seas.

The West Coast is a wonderful destination for bird watchers, hikers and anyone who loves enjoying the great outdoors. There are some excellent wine farms worth discovering, such as Burgherspost on Cloof Wine Estate outside of Darling, which is where the annual Rocking the Daisies eco festival is held.

Wow! That is really nice. Do you also offer tour packages for international markets?
