But I am the lucky winner of this incredible opportunity - even though I still have to pinch myself to believe I'm about to go on a trip up the Garden Route all the way to the Transkei, in a 4x4, meeting some incredible people and staying at a variety of awesome places along the way - it's really true!
I'll be starting my actual journey on Wednesday 16 February, after 2 days in Port Elizabeth, and I'll be back just under a month later, with hundreds of stories, countless photographs and a lifetime of memories to look back on.
The trip is being organised by Getaway Magazine and Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa, who I've blogged about previously here on the Portfolio Travel Blog.
FTTSA is an organisation which works hard at encouraging tourism related establishments and businesses to practice business in ways that are ethical and also ecologically sound.
As I travel through parts of our beautiful country I will be staying at some FTTSA affiliated lodges, backpackers and homestays. I will also have the opportunity to meet people who work at various Fair Trade affiliated initiatives - school development projects, craft centres, conservation initiatives and community upliftment projects.
I'll also be enjoying a number of fun activities - a frog safari, a tree top canopy tour and a 3 day mountain hike.
If you'd like to come along with me, at least virtually, you can follow my daily blog here. You can also follow me on Twitter - @joyanne
I'll also be popping in here at the Portfolio Travel Blog once or twice a week to give regular readers a taste of all I'm seeing, learning and experiencing.
I look forward to having you along for the ride :-)
