Sci-Fi box office hit District 9, set in Johannesburg, has garnered 4 nominations including one for Best Picture.
The rugby World Cup inspired “Invictus” - filmed at various locations around South Africa and based on historical events in the 1990s - has granted Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman nominations for their portrayals of Francoise Pienaar and Nelson Mandela respectively.
Excellent news for South Africa as 2010 continues to be the year the world’s eyes focus on this beautiful country.
