SA Named a Top 10 Best Value Destination for 2010 by Lonely Planet

Posted Fri, 11 Dec 2009 (2 years ago)

South Africa has been listed on Lonely Planet's website as one of the Top 10 Global destinations offering great value to the international traveller.

We joined the ranks of exotic locations such as Iceland, Malaysia and Mexico.

From Lonely Planet:

SOUTH AFRICA

British holidaymakers take note – in 2009 this was one of the places where the British pound actually strengthened against the local currency (the rand). South Africa is not only about an amazing climate, vast unspoilt scenery, balmy sandy beaches, extraordinary wildlife and adventure activities, but the cost of living is low, so it’s also excellent value for money. (Expect prices to skyrocket around June and early July when the FIFA World Cup is on though.)  For unbelievably vast views, take the cable car up Table Mountain in the morning or the evening – visibility is best early or late.

After reading the contents of various articles,I am completely agree that South Africa in amongst top ten destinations in the world for the tourists in terms of monetary value. It's worth it!!!!!

I can also vouch for this article. The country for all its reported strife and violence is vibrant and alive. It has a spirit that cannot be hindered. It has a natural beauty and enthusiasm that has been lost to many countries that are controlled and policed and now have little spirit left.

I have read a few blogs who all agree that SA is the most understated place for a vacation. It piques my interest what types of tourist attractions they have apart from the scenic views and local culture, anyone care to share? This would be a nice getaway from my city life in my apartment in Stockholm!
