Posted Mon, 21 Dec 2009 (2 years ago)

Lonely Planet has compiled a great list of 9 Amazing Travel Destinations for the coming year, and South Africa is featured – of course – for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The article, posted on the Lonely Planet website, says of the World Cup:

“No other event has such power to capture the international imagination, and in 2010 the FIFA World Cup is coming to Africa. South Africa’s premier soccer venue is the FNB Stadium (Soccer City), in Johannesburg, which has been enlarged to 94,700 seating capacity for 2010.”

The rest of their Must-Visit 2010 Destinations list is as follows:

  • Burning Man Festival, Nevada, USA (Don’t forget, South Africa’s own AfrikaBurn which takes place in May 2010.

We have a very beautiful country that does seem to capture the heart of most visitors, it's just a pity that we, as much as any other country, have some major issues that we need to get sorted out in order to make good and lasting impression.
