SA Attracts 1 Million Ticket Applications for 2010

Posted Tue, 31 Mar 2009 (3 years ago)

You know how we're forever saying how South Africa is so beautiful that most the world wishes they were here? Turns out it's true! In the 5 weeks since tickets for the 2010 FIFA World Cup have been available a million + applications have been logged worldwide.

These come from over 160 countries. There are 743 000 tickets available during Phase 1 and the million applications do not include those made locally at First National Banks nationwide.

Half of the applications are for Team Specific Matches - fans following their teams throughout the tournament.

This makes SA the country which has attracted the largest number of applications to date, followed by the UK and the USA.

The deadline for Phase One is TONIGHT but don't dispair - it doesn't matter how late you apply, every application stands the same chance of being selected during the random draw on 15 April 09 (for over-subscribed matches). You'll know by the end of April if you're one of the lucky ones.

Apply online NOW at www.fifa.com . Or if you're a South African resident you can also submit a paper application at one of the select 700 FNB branches around the country

I must say that this is the first time Second time that Africa will be in the spotlight the first was when Obama won and now the worldcup. Africa we should be proud and promote our continent like nothing else.
This is the greatest opportunity for us to market all our destinations.
