Ranger Diary
29 November 2010
The week consisted of a lot of cloudy and rainy weather, but did not change the fact that there were some amazing sightings. It is clear that summer is on the way, birdlife is changing a lot with most of the summer migrants finally starting to settle down and finishing the nest building in preparation of the breeding season.
Looking at the antelope it is also clear that the seasons are changing due to the number of lambs and calves that are starting to join the herds, it is especially the Impala, Blesbuck and Red Hartebeest that started lambing and just adds to the guests’ experience, always being nice to see the young and the old.
The lioness with her four cubs caught a warthog on Sunday (28/11/2010) close to Cariega which is not a lot of meat for five lions, but enough to ensure a brilliant sighting and satisfy their hunger for a short while.
