Climate and the change it brings

It has been the wettest year in over thirty years in the Eastern Cape. The increased rainfall has caused flooding in some of the areas surrounding Pumba Private Game reserve as well as some changes in the environment like snow capped mountains visible from the reserve.

Many of the fynbos species on the reserve have begun to flower; the insects are out and about because of it and have caused increased activity amongst the many bird species on the reserve.

We are beginning to see the arrival of some migratory bird species and the flourishing of the animals after a long, cold, wet winter. The tone is set for a good productive summer on the reserve and it has been long awaited by all.
