Richard Pearse of
Pumba Private Game Reserve sent an update on happenings at the reserve along with some stunning images he took last week.
Richard writes:
The month of December has arrived, signaling the end of another year, concerning the reserve it has been a very rewarding year.
Signs of good rainfall
 |
Following extremely dry conditions which were experienced for a couple of years, to date the reserve has received 924mm of rain, 274mm more than our average expected rainfall for the area.
It is speculated though, that there is still more rain to come. This abundance of water has benefited the reserve greatly, amazing all who visit, with its amazing hues of greens and abundance of colour from a variety of flowering plants.
Cheetah, chilling
 |
Young antelope, abound the plains, as well as the inclusion of a baby Hippopotamus, in Cariega Lake. The Cheetah are doing very well, orientating themselves with the mountainous portions of the reserve at present, and the White Lion are enjoying the abundance of game and the vast expanses of the main section of the reserve.
