Wednesday morning saw the sun splash down on Camps Bay, as guests arrived at Portfolio Collection’s high tea for Cape Town and Winelands establishment owners, industry players and friends.
Held at the serenely beautiful Atlantic Suites with its extensive sea and mountain views, the event was an informal get together and a chance for members to meet each other and the Portfolio team, headed by Moja Media CEO Ian Solomon and Creative Director James Delaney.
Delectable snacks were served alongside sparkling wine from Saltare Wines and invitees mingled, exchanged cards and shared experiences of working in the industry.
James welcomed everyone and explained a bit about the rebranding of Portfolio Collection in both print and the digital space, explaining the importance of reaching today’s traveller while continuing to serve the traditional, older audience. He reassured members that as much as the brand is moving forward with the website, app and social media, there are no plans on discontinuing the ever popular printed guide.
Ian spoke about the growth we’ve experienced in traffic to the website and the blog, and about the effectiveness of the new Travel Tips newsletter which is reaching the previously untapped resource of our 75 000 strong database. He also touched on the relevance of social media in today's market and how Portfolio is using the various platforms to engage and increase brand awareness.
The rest of the team – Raze (Business Developer), Kirsty (Relationship Manager) and Joy (Blog Editor and Social Media) were introduced and Raze thanked all present.
And then it was back to chatting, networking and swapping stories – a wonderful, relaxed morning and something we’d love to repeat in some of our other regions in the future.
