Carolyne from Portfolio up in Johannesburg recently returned from a trip to Swaziland where she was assessing some of our accommodation establishments. She shares some of her thoughts & Swaziland photos with us.
"I went to Swaziland to do the assessments* for our Bed and Breakfast Collection 2010 and was so taken by the awesome scenery, the fabulous friendly people and all the things to do.
To my surprise, most of the guest houses said that visitors to Swaziland tend to use it as a one night stop to get from Mpumalanga to KZN (or vice versa) which is such a shame. There is
lots to do and lots to see ranging from
Big Five reserves, to
arts and crafts – some specific to Swaziland such as the
Ngwenya
Glass Factory where they blow the glass and have a fabulous shop on site, and the
Swazi Candles Centre.
The
Swazi basket weavers are quite different to any other as well. There are casinos, hiking trails, trout fishing, golf courses, white river rafting and a myriad of exciting things to experience.
It’s worth every minute!"
