Coming up this weekend (10 – 12 July) is a photography course for intermediate photographers at Mimosa Lodge in Montagu, a pleasant 2.5 - 3 hour's drive from Cape Town, (with a beginners course set for 21 – 23 August)

Mimosa Lodge has paired with photographer Luke Metelerkamp to bring you an exclusive weekend away Photography Course.
Beginners Course
The course provides:
- an introduction to how a camera works
- a better general understanding of all the knobs and dials on your specific model
- fundamental technical aspects of exposure control
- Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO will all be covered in detail as how to select the best setting for your shot
- outdoor exercises in and around picturesque Montagu to hone your skills in a range of disciplines from landscape to still life and historic architecture. These will be directed at rehearsing the technical aspects covered as well as developing your creative eye
- the digital side of downloading, digitally editing and saving your images shot during the day, including exposure correction, contrast and saturation adjustment as well as converting to black and white.
Intermediate Course:
The course:
- aims to improve the overall level of your digital photography, assuming a basic understanding of your digital SLR and the principles of adjusting image exposure through the use of aperture and shutter speed controls
- will briefly introduce the work of a range of established photographers so as to provide inspiration and direction with for your own work.
- discuss effects and results which individual's would like to achieve or improve so as to provide technical and stylistic advice as well as practical assistance during day excursions around the Montagu area.
- some time each day will be devoted to editing and retouching your images for the day. This will be used as a platform to cover the following digital points; RAW processing, exposure correction, resizing, tonal adjustments, colour correction, advanced black and white conversions, making selections and retouching dust & other unwanted mark.
- group discussion and crit sessions will be held in the evenings and each person will have the option to briefly present a selection of their images from the day to the group.
Dates & Rates 10-12 July 2009 Intermediate - R2300.00 per person sharing.
21-23 August 2009 Beginners - R1900.00 per person sharing.

- 2 night's accommodation and breakfast
- the first nights dinner
- lunch on Saturday and Sunday
