Ann Wilson tells us about one of her favourite ways to enjoy a clear winters evening in
Cape Town . May she inspire more locals and our visitors to do the same!
It is a beautiful day in the Mother City and after a day rooted to my desk, with my eyes glued to a computer, the last place I want to be is indoors. So, once a week, weather permitting, I don my walking shoes, take a warm jacket, water, a headlamp, my iPhone for taking a few pics, and along with friends, head to the mountain. Lion’s Head.
Sunset from Lion's Head

Nothing can beat the exhilarating feeling of climbing Lion’s Head on a clear winter’s day. The air is crisp and fresh in our lungs, and despite the chill, we quickly build up a sweat as we make our way up. With the sun setting earlier in winter, the first part of the climb is mostly in the shade, but rounding the head we are faced with spectacular views of the ocean and the sun slowly sinking towards the horizon. And this week, what better way to celebrate the beauty of the Mother City, than with a glass of port, perched on a rock, watching the sun set over Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
Cheers! Another perfect day ends in Cape Town

With the sun set and the light quickly fading, we head down by torchlight. But the beauty does not end there, because before us is the Mother City, decked out in all her finery, lit up and sparkly and bright.
Good Night Cape Town!
