The legendary cancer-conquering, multiple Tour de France winning sports hero was in the Mother City for a week, promoting the JAG Foundation, visiting cancer patients in Groote Schuur Hospital, and cycling around the Cape in preparation for the grueling cycle race.

I spotted him and Daryl Impey coming over Ou Kaapse Weg on Friday afternoon, with a security vehicle in close proximity, but didn't manage to snap a photo. Armstrong however posted the several pics of himself out and about, including the one (below) near Cape Point on Twitter.

Armstrong, a regular Twitter user, had plenty of good things to say about his time in Cape Town. Best quote?

"Done w/ a nice 3hr ride. I've heard many times before that Cape Town is stunning. That was no lie. What a place."
