Kirstenbosch Scoops Gold at Chelsea

I was delighted to hear that Kirstenbosch has scooped a gold medal in this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. This was their 30th gold medal in all the years they’ve been exhibiting at Chelsea.

I felt especially proud to have played a small part in helping get the South African exhibitors to London - buying tickets to the special Goldfish concert at Kirstenbosch at the end of summer, resulted not only in a brilliant concert that we all thoroughly enjoyed, but the proceeds also went towards sending the exhibit to the annual botanical event.

 

 

This year Chelsea's theme was sustainability and responsibility. The Kirstenbosch exhibitors focused accordingly on biodiversity and created a display featuring four of the NationalBotanical Gardens from the following areas:

SA Diversity and Creativity - It's what makes South Africa unique.. I was fortunate to spend several years in the Eastern Cape and regularly went 'inland' with the Mountain Club - the Display bought back wonderful memories..
