June is Blood Donor Month

Posted Thu, 25 Jun 2009 (3 years ago)

If you missed National Blood Donor Day on 14 June, don't dispair - all of June is Blood Donor month (although you can of course donate any time).

Blood donation is a simple, painless (apart from mild discomfort for a few people) and life giving way to genuinely help save a life, and be a real life superhero!

Unless you are unable for health or religious reasons to donate blood there really is no excuse not to head on down to your nearest blood donation clinic, roll up your sleeve, lie back and go to your happy place while the whole needle bit takes place, then take full advantage of the tea and cookie afterwards before going on your way knowing that you've been a hero for the day.

And, as always, remember, it could be you, your child, your parent, your partner who next needs love-giving blood.

Excellent post! Do not wait till YOU are in need of blood. We have also made available information on Blood and Safety on both the Arrive Alive website and on the Road Safety Blog. Only 4 % of blood is used in trauma..and much more for operations dealing with birth, cancer etc!

Johan this is something most of us can contribute to - who knows
when we or our loved ones will need blood?

You have an excellent site by the way :-)
