Each November, traffic in the city of Joburg comes to a standstill to make way for close to 30 000 cyclists participating in the 94/7 Challenge...
The 94.7 Challenge was started by Midrand Country Cyclists (MCC) in 1997 with a field of 4 500, cyclists.
It has become the biggest cycling race in Gauteng.
In 2009 25 000 Cyclists took to the roads. The organisers anticipated 26 000 Cyclists for 2010.
Sandton based photographer Axel Bührmann took these wonderful images which capture the action, the fun, the sweat, and all the emotion of this year's Challenge which took place over the weekend.
Thanks Axel!
