No, no. Not THAT Iron Man. Not Robert Downey Jr in the big red metal suit blowing up stuff. Although admittedly he was both hot and cool in the role... but I digress. This is the South African Spec Savers IRONMAN Tri-althele event due to take place this April in Port Elizabeth.

Never mind your Two Oceans Marathons and your Cape Argus Cycle Tours - those events are child's play compared with this gruelling event which has men (and women, despite the name) run, swim and cycle on Sunday 25 April 2010.
The challenge is open to individuals and teams - the race comprises– 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and a 42.2km run.
REGISTRATION
Entries for the 2010 Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa will be closing on Sunday, 31 January at midnight. This will be your last chance to enter using the normal rate or the discounted Spec-Savers special – from then onwards the late entry fee will apply.

If you're going to be in the Friendly City - Port Elizabeth - located in Nelson Mandela Bay - on the day, and want to support participants from the sidelines, you'll want to head down to Hobie Beach to catch all the action.

The IRONMAN South Africa awards ceremony will take place on Monday 26 April 2010 at 19h00 in the beautifully decorated Ironman Dome. Comprising served dinner, a video show about the race week, dancers, and a big celebration of all the age group winners.
