Hogan has been recognized for the incredible way in which she has turned around the country’s official stance on HIV and Aids, a 180 degree change from that of her predecessor, acknowledging that HIV causes AIDS and going a long way to make treatment available to those who need it.
Although she has been in office for less than a year, Hogan is praised for her 'profound experience, dedicated service to her homeland, unflinching courage, conviction and compassion’.
Kentridge is a South African artist whose work is unique in its execution and jammed with political comment. Using simple materials such as charcoal and paper, Kentridge creates ‘startlingly original drawings’ and is considered one of the top artists in SA today.
Congratulations to these two shining lights who have brought the attention of the world to our country in such a positive way.
