South Africa is beautiful all year round, but it's hard not to get super excited about Spring Day and the knowledge that another South African summer is around the corner...
Walking through Newlands streets in recent weeks as I do at lunchtime most work days (our Portfolio Collection offices being in this leafy Southern Suburb of Cape Town, presided over by Table Mountain) I have been increasingly aware of warmer weather and the scent of jasmine heavy in the air - a sure sign of spring's imminent arrival!
The fruit trees in gardens all along the route I walk are already covered in pink and white blossoms, the whales have been spotted for weeks already off our coast (I saw one repeatedly breaching just last Friday off Fish Hoek beach) and now, at last, we have arrived at this auspicious day - the first official day of spring.
Which is an excellent time for our readers in the Northern Hemisphere, contemplating the end of their own summer, to plan a visit to South Africa over the coming months as our days gets longer and hotter.
The best place to find your accommodation (benchmarked by our team of assessors who visit all Portfolio establishments personally each year) is to visit www.portfoliocollection.com or to order your own copies of our three accommodation Guide books - FREE, and sent to you anywhere in the world at no cost.
