The Green Cab company is hoping to provide eco-friendly transport to those visiting and living in the Mother City by the middle of this year.
The company has a fleet of 20 vehicles (sedan and 10-seater) as their aim is to be able to offer both the private and tourism sectors the opportunity to use green transport in and around
Cape Town
.
The vehicles are all regular petrol vehicles which have been converted - they now use a dual-fuel system with liquid petroleum gas (LPG).
LPG releases up to 87% less harmful emissions than petrol into the air.
And
Green Cab is also hoping to address the shortage of women drivers in the transport sector in Cape Town by employing mostly
women registered tour guides as drivers for their fleet.
Advanced driver and first aid training will be mandatory for all drivers.
Seems like these guys have thought of everything! Now it's just a case of waiting for the paperwork and legal side of things to be cleared and it should be a green light for Green Cab.
