History loving trail runners - this one’s for you!
South Africa’s oldest and most dramatic footrace(walkers, MTB enthusiasts and horse riders also welcome :-))
Take a rewarding 14km run along a rugged and beautiful single track and re-live one of the most dramatic events in South African history.
You’ll be running in the footsteps of the British soldiers as they fled the Zulus at Isandlwana. When the dust settled, more than 800 British troops, 500 of their allies and 1300 Zulu warriors had fallen at Isandlwana or perished along the Fugitives Trail. Later that same day, many more lives were lost at Rorke's Drift.
The run itself runs from Isandlwana to Rorke’s Drift starting on the Fugitive’s Tail and then cross country on the Bridle Trail. This year there’s the added fun of an opportunity to shoot a Martini-Henry rifle!
If you have running or walking shoes, a mountain bike, or a horse, then join the cultural experience and be part of this intimate physical and emotional engagement with history.
