There are so many aspects to the Vodacom Durban July - the horses, the jockeys, the betting - and of course the fashion!
This year the Durban July theme is "It's a Blooming Great Day" - which alludes to flowers - so expect some very interesting interpretations and some very flowery hats! Refer to the poster below for more on this aspect.
There is a full day's programme including 12 races in total, but the main event is at Race 7 at 16h20.
Even though our Portfolio Collection Head Offices are in Cape Town, we always get into the spirit of the Durban July by means of a sweep whereby we buy tickets and pull horse names out of a hat - of course we always make an occaision of this with a glass of bubbly on the Friday prior to the race - the staff member holding the winning horse's name gets all the ticket money :-) Why not try something similar at your work?
