Sue and Martyn Steele of Trees Too Guest House in Komatipoort bring good news to those who have been wondering about the future of the Kruger's Crocodile Bridge Gate...
It's been a long wait for those accommodation establishments near the Kruger’s Crocodile Bridge Gate. Since 2006, the Gate is regularly closed to tourists due to periods of heavy rains and flooding. This has had a negative effect on tourism in the vicinity.
Sue and Martyn Steele of Trees Too Guest House in Komatipoort have certainly felt the impact. So they were delighted to be able to share with us the following news:
“It is great news that Sanparks are in the process of adding 1.9 metres to the height of the Crocodile Bridge Gate entrance to the Kruger Park, in Komatipoort. This game-abundant end of the Park has in past years been subject to flooding resulting in the closure of the Gate and visitors opting to stay in other towns bordering the Park during the rainy season.
Work has already commenced on a temporary, flood proof structure so that traffic will not be disrupted during the building of the permanent structure which should be completed early in 2009.
It is now safe to book holidays near the Crocodile Bridge Gate, in Komatipoort without fear of flooding!”
A call to Sanparks confirmed this story, which we are sure will delight tourists and tourism related businesses in the region.
