Congratulations Natalie!

Posted Fri, 12 Mar 2010 (2 years ago)

A hearty congratulations to our Olympic medalist and home-grown hero Natalie du Toit as she is recognised at an international awards ceremony this week.

She’s made South Africa proud again - swimming champion Natalie Du Toit won the annual Laureus Disability award earlier this week at the Laureus World Sports Awards, held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, earlier this week.

Ms du Toit continually attracts praise and acclaim, not only for her remarkable achievements in the water in both disabled and regular swimming events, but for her positive attitude.

Du Toit lost her leg in a motorcycle accident back in 2001 and has since achieved sporting success in the Olympics and Paralympics, while the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) are looking ahead with eager anticipation to her participation in the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in London.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, won the Laureus Sportsman of the Year award for the second time, while American tennis player, Serena Williams, won the women's prize.
