Comrades Deadline Extended

Posted Fri, 3 Apr 2009 (3 years ago)

In case those of you crazy enough to want to run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in the Comrades Marathon 2009, it’s not too late. The deadline has – for the first time in the famous race’s history – been extended till this coming Monday 6 April, at 18h00 (6 p.m)

The reason for this unprecedented decision on the part of the CMA (Comrades Marathon Association) is that there were false rumours flying around that the Comrades may be cancelled this year – and many would-be participants did not, therefore, apply prior to the original cut-off date, Tuesday March 31, 2009.

So, bad news for those of you who thought you had a fail-proof get-out clause for NOT running this year – that’s no longer the case!

Race day for the 2009 Comrades Marathon is May 24, 2009.
