Looking for some comedy, music and pizza on the next World Cup rest day? Look no further than the LL MOOG in downtown Cape Town ...

As you all know, the Funny Bones Comedy nights at Purple Turtle have not been happening (because, let’s be serious, you can’t compete with the World Cup). I was very excited to find out that on Thursday, 1st July 2010, it is a ‘rest day’ from the soccer. For this reason, Mumz The Word and LL MOOG have put together an evening of comedy, music and dining.

As it is a rest day from the soccer on 1 July, 2010 (phew), can you think of a better way to spend that evening than some good food, great comedy and a line-up of fantastic DJs to close off the evening. LL MOOG and Mumz The Word present “In The Moog” – an intimate evening of comedy and music.

The comedy line-up includes:

Martin Evans – a naturally funny comedian who uses a very clever blend of wit and self-deprecation to ease the audience into a very unique insight into his outstanding sense of humour.

Richard Deacon – previous 5FM producer for Roger Goode. His comedy represents the new generation of humour. His unique perspective on general topics allows for him to open his audience’s eyes (and ears) to a new way of seeing things. His sense of humour is not conventional but highly entertaining.

Paul Snodgrass – is a DJ for Heart FM. His energy on stage complimented with his fantastic material has established himself as one of Cape Town’s top comedians. His one-man show “I’m So Lonely” was a great success and he is a pleasure to watch.

(Line-up subject to change)

FOOD, FOOD, FOOD

It is always better to watch comedy with an open mind and a full stomach, so the doors will open at 7pm to allow for all of you to indulge in some great LL MOOG Pizza.

MUSIC

After the comedy, there will be a live DJ set from the DJ Fred Spider and Infrared. Fred Spider – Originally born in Lyon (France), Fred Spider became addicted to music after having listened to the jazz organist “Jimmy Smith”. From then on he always has been an active member of the huge family of music and started dj-ing in 1984, where he created his first band and played in the so-called fashion and “Mods” parties. He has performed all over the world including: Japan, China, South Africa, Uk, France, Italy, Turkey, Switzerland, Scotland, Argentina, Germany, Austria, Holland, Sweden, Hungary, Spain, Portugal, Mauritius Island, Reunion Island and Monaco.

Need to Know

Times:

  • DOORS OPEN: 7pm
  • COMEDY STARTS: 8pm
  • DJs SETS: 11pm

Venue:

LL MOOG is a new venue to Long Street. It is a very intimate setting where some of the best DJs have already played including Craig De Sousa and Matt Blitz and has a fully licensed bar (obviously, what’s comedy without a bit of alcoholic lubrication) and smoking section)

ADDRESS: Corner Long Street and Bloem, the entrance for the venue is right next door to Mexican Kitchen. Look for a black, steel door that will reveal an alley… the alleyway to bliss. 210 on Long
