The bright pink painted facade of Charly's Bakery
is one of the best known shop fronts in Cape Town - and the delicious, imaginative cakes and other delights one can buy there have made this store a Cape Town legend.
So when the suitably zany (but hardworking) owners were approached by production company Cooked in Africa to make a TV show about "the crazy craziness of the bakery, and the family that run it" they gamely agreed.

The result is Charly's Cake Angels and from the look of the pilot episode (teaser below) it's going to be a fascinating look behind the scenes of small business success in South Africa - with the messy bits left in! Watch episode 1 on Saturday,1 October on SABC3 at 4 p.m and meet Alex, Roche, Jacqui and Dani (above) and the rest of the Charly's team.

How much fun?
Now, to launch the show, Charly's is running a competition wherein one of a list of top Cape Town based charities will receive R5000 worth of cake - and the public are asked to vote for their charity of choice - listed on the flyer below. Email your favourite charity's name to firstname.lastname@example.org to help them win.
