The event grows each year and last year saw over 50,000 visitors stream through the doors of the CTICC (Cape Town International Convention Centre) to enjoy the full programme and visit the numerous stands, all geared towards giving the public insight into the literature and publishing world of the African continent.
According to the official Cape Town Book Fair website, the focus of this year’s Fair will be on “literature from each corner of Africa.”
Keep checking back to the site as details emerge on who will be present, and which countries they will be representing. Speakers from Romania and Indiaare also scheduled to participate in the 2009 programme, extending the view of the literary landscape even further afield.
Writers, publishers, printers and the book-loving public can all look forward to this years’ event which is set to be a great success.
There will, as usual, be plenty of delicious food available so you can spend a whole day browsing stands, meeting people and attending the lively debates and fascinating presentations that always add spice to the Fair.
Remember to bring the kids - children are welcomed as the programme caters for them too.
