Did you get your hair shaved or sprayed over the weekend for the CANSA Shavathon? Please send in your pics!
We headed down to Long Beach Mall in Sun Valley on Friday after school and I persuaded my 10 year old son to get involved. His one gran is a cancer survivor and one of his grandfather's died from cancer so it's a cause that we thoroughly support.
He wasn't too keen to go totally bald so I persuaded him to get a mohawk, thinking the lasses from The Cutting Room in Fish Hoek, who were volunteering at the CANSA stand, would just shave a bit off the sides and gel the middle section.
We got there during a lull - not many people were at the stand - and the hairdresser who did Raphael's hair gave him a brilliant cut and style (see below) - spending at least 20 minutes on it and spraying the tips green (temporarily). He looked great!
Well done to all who volunteered their time and skills, and to those who were brave enough to get shaved for such an excellent cause.
Please send in YOUR pics and we'll add them here.

Gauteng-based photographer Jeanette Verster supported CANSA both by getting her and her son Bradley's hair sprayed, and by blogging the event on her excellent blog. See her images below, then go to her blog for more photos of the Shavathon.

Another reader sent us these dramatic pics of her Shavathon experience - Olivia had long dark locks and had them all shaved off in the name of CANSA's awareness and fund raising drive.
Olivia told us:
"You could say my reason for doing is to show solidarity with cancer sufferers.
My dad passed away from pancreatic cancer 20 years ago. Also my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years ago and she immediately had a mastectomy. She's had no problems since."
Well done Olivia!
