Birding Thursday - Tweetest Ringtones Ever

Posted Thu, 13 Sep 2012 (8 months ago)

Bird lovers, this is for you! Or a novel and fun gift for your birding enthusiast friends...

Cell phones are as much a pain as they are a blessing. At least these days we don't only have a choice of a selection of robotic beeps playing the Nokia tune, but then again some people's taste in ring tone music may be even worse.

Now if you're a bird or nature lover you have the choice of having a Southern African bird song as a ringtone. Far more pleasant, and there is such a variety you could have a new tweet each week!

Head on over to www.sabirding.co.za and check out their extensive list of local bird sounds you can download - either 1 for R15 or in bundles of 5 for R50.

You can have the chirps, tweets, squawks and calls of the jackal buzzard, brubrueastern clapper lark or even if you could stand it the Hadeda Ibis!

And if you would like to mix things up a bit they also have some South African wildlife sounds from the barking gecko to the seldom heard zebra.

SA Birding is a great resource for avi-enthusiasts.

A quick stop at Garrett in the way back from the NJ/NY BB Whistling Ducks and waiting for trffaic to die down. Not many birds, but a decent number of Blackpolls, A few magnolias, a Canada, Redstarts, a couple of Scarlet Tanagers, a single Swainsons Thrush and Growing numbers of Waxwings. Is there anything left bar stragglers and later migrating birds?Simon
