Support local artists this festive season! This stunning calendar will make a great gift for bird-loving friends or anyone who appreciates incredible photography.
For the past 5 years, Cape Town based freelance photographer
John Maarschalk made up calendars, featuring his nature photography, as Christmas presents for family and close friends. Word about these striking calendars got out and last year he ended up printing around 50.
For 2013, John has chosen to feature birds which he has photographed in various parts of Southern Africa. He has made these available for sale to the public via his
blog.
John says:
"The images in this calendar were captured in various parts of Southern Africa, from The Chobe Game Reserve in the north of Botswana to the Southern Peninsula of The Western Cape. The range of birds goes from the smallest, a Malachite Kingfisher to the largest being a Spotted Eagle Owl. The only Raptor I included is the Owl, and she was sitting on her nest with a baby..., for the rest, I concentrated on the more colourful birds, hence the name, 'Colours in the Sky'."
The calendar is 220mm square, but folds out to 440mm tall and has 1 month per double page. The cover page is printed on glossy 300g paper and all the inside pages are glossy 200g paper. The quality of the printed images is exceptional in the calendar.
The selling price is R180-00 each excluding packaging and postage.
