Be Amazed by Mazes on the Amazing Route 62

Posted Wed, 29 Jul 2009 (3 years ago)

There's something very "Alice in Wonderland" about mazes that fascinates adults and children alike. If you're travelling along Route 62 be sure to stop, play and explore the mazes and gardens at Soekershof.

The name Soekershof means Seekers Court. Soekershof Private Mazes & Botanical Gardens is situated along Route 62 between Robertson and Ashton / Montagu, 2 hours from Cape Town and an hour from the charming town of Swellendam. If you're driving in, look out for the elephant statues at their entrance.

  • Explore the original succulent gardens of Marthinus Malherbe (you may even see his ghost!)
  • See the oldest cactus in South Africa (dating back to 1910!)
  • Take part in the Maze Quest that includes a Stone Age cinema screening
  • Come for a flower tasting
  • Visit the outdoor succulent collection comprising over 2400 plants

Thanks for mentioning us. We really appreciate this!!!
One remark however: Road directions are a problem in Robertson.
Soekershof is located in Klaas Voogds WEST; 8 kilometres East of Robertson along Route62 (R60/N70). In Klaas Voogds WEST it's the second farm on the right.
Indeed the one with the two elephant statues.

Again: Thanks.

You are Welcome1

I actually visited this place a few years ago with my boyfriend, when the maze was still full of young plants and we heard the story of Klaas Voogd, thank you for a sweet, yet bizarre afternoon and apple pie.
