A teddy bear that is travelling the world arrived in Cape Town yesterday and is staying with my son and me for a few weeks.
His owner is a lady from the States who had the idea over 2 years ago to get 43 people from a social media website called 43things, to help this friendly-looking, fair-sized bear travel to 43 different places around the world. It sounded fun, so I signed up as a voluntary host.
For the most part, Snickerdoodle MacBear (for that is his
name) has been travelling around the States thus far, but in recent times he has made it to Spain and Johannesburg, and is now here in the Mother City.
This is a fun social project – Snicks (as he is affectionately known) has slowly collected clothing (including teddy-patterned socks, a personalized T-shirt, shoes and 2 caps) as well as a load of pins and badges from his various travels. He also has a backpack containing knickknacks from along the way.
The idea is for the host to take photos of Snicks at various places in the country he is visiting, and to post them online to the Snickerdoodle MacBear flickr page. He also has his own Facebook page where he updates friends on his adventures.

Snicks may even be going to Czech next week as we are going there for a holiday…
If this kind of project appeals to you, feel free to follow Snickerdoodle MacBear on Facebook - just add yourself as his friend. Or check out his flickr page to enjoy photos of Snicks in Disneyland, Madrid - and even Bronkhorstspruit!
