A Vineyard that Cares

Posted Thu, 16 Oct 2008 (4 years ago)

A regular visitor from Europe, Kate enjoys visiting the Cape Winelands when she is in South Africa and offers this recommendation of excellent, relaxed wine tasting in the beautiful Franschhoek valley.

If you're wine tasting in Franschhoek I would heartily recommend a visit to Stony Brook, a small, family-owned vineyard with excellent wines and owners who care.

Joy will sit you down on the terrace with a view out over the garden and vines, introduce you to the family dog and then let you taste your way through the list at your leisure, stopping by from time to time to share her knowledge and check you are OK.

We have bought and enjoyed wines from Stony Brook several times over the past 3 years and never been disappointed. And handily for those of us in the northern hemisphere they hold stock in a Belgian warehouse for easy dispatch to anywhere in Europe.

We'd also recommend Glenwood for a friendly welcome, albeit without quite the same sense of being in a family setting.

Go, enjoy - but please leave us some for our next visit!
