Helen Keller famously said, "Life is either a great adventure or nothing". Here's someone who started living by those words at the age of just 16.
Zac Sunderland is en route, literally, to becoming the youngest person to ever circumnavigate the world - single handed.
This amazing young man, with his wide smile and long hair, is currently making his way down South Africa’s coastline, stopping off along the way to meet people and explore the country a little.
He is keeping a fascinating blog of his experiences – his latest post is from Mossel Bay along the Garden Route.
Coming from a family of yachtsmen and shipwrights, Zac’s first home was a 55' Tradewind in Marina del Rey, California, where his first ‘cot’ was a bunk onboard.
And he’s been sailing ever since. So it’s not that surprising that Zac would be up for the challenge of one-manning it around the globe.
Zac’s next stop is Cape Town. Thereafter he’ll be heading to the island of St Helena, then through the Panama Canal. He hopes to arrive back where he started - at Marina del Rey - during in March 2009.
